Gokyo Lake with Everest base Camp trek 18 Days is a challenging high pass trek in the Everest region. It is an exciting journey that covers two fabulous destinations- the Gokyo Lake and the Everest base camp via Cho La Pass. The journey to Everest base camp via Gokyo Lake offers a unique trekking experience that also requires your physical fitness and acclimatization. Trek to Gokyo Lake itself is incredible to explore the huge blue glacial Lake and the hidden Gokyo valley beside the Lake. For the acclimatization and getting far brilliant sceneries, you hike to the Gokyo Ri and get the stunning views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and the surrounding views. Crossing the challenging high pass is again another incredible thing to do in Khumbu. It is steep and technical climb as well as descending. Heading to Everest base camp after the Cho La pass offer an epic excursion that is alluring. During the trek, you can also explore the Sherpa culture and the lifestyles of the people in the alpine region and their hardships. Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu,(1350m).
  • Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2800m) 30 mins and trek to Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs walk.
  • Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). 5 - 6 hrs walk.
  • Day 04: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar .4-5hrs walk
  • Day 05: Trek to Dole (4040m) 5-6hrs walk
  • Day 06: Trek to Machhermo (4470m) 4-5hrs walk
  • Day 07: Trek to Gokyo (4800m) 5-6hrs walk
  • Day 08: Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5483m) and back to Gokyo and rest. 6-7hrs walk
  • Day 09: Trek to Thaknak (4750 m): 5 - 6 hrs
  • Day 10: Cross the Cho-La Pass and down to Dzongla (4830m): 7 - 8 hrs
  • Day 11: Trek to Lobuche (4940m): 4 - 5 hrs
  • Day 12: Trek to Gorak Shep (5170m) - Everest Base Camp (5364m) and Back Gorak Shep. 7 - 8 hrs walk.
  • Day 13: Morning KalaPatthar sunrise and trek down to Pheriche (4280m). 7 - 8 hrs walk
  • Day 14: Trek down to Pangboche-Tengboche-Namche Bazzar (3440m). 5 - 6 hrs walk.
  • Day 15: Trek down to Lukla (2800m). 6 - 8 hrs walk
  • Day 16: Fly Back to Kathmandu.
  • Day 17: Departure to International Airport.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu,(1350m).Welcome to Kathmandu. Our airport representative greets you at the international airport on your arrival. After you will be transferred at the hotel then check-in at the hotel, refresh and rest yourself. Your Trekking Guide will briefly explain your trip program in the evening. O/N at Hotel. (A)
  • Day 02Fly to Lukla (2800m) 30 mins and trek to Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs walk.In the morning, we drive to the domestic airport and fly to the Himalayan land- Lukla. It is a gateway of most of the trekking in the Everest region. After doing some preparation for the trek, we start to walk up to Phakding. It is a splendid walk over the Dudhkoshi River. We stay overnight here on our first day of Himalayan trekking. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 03Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). 5 - 6 hrs walk.After breakfast, we start our trek through the pine forest, reach the Dudh Koshi River, cross the suspension bridge and ascend steep trail. From the way, we have the views of Thamserku (6618m) for the first time in the trip. Then we move forward and enter into the Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsalle. Continually we reach the Namche Bazaar, a beautiful Himalayan place and a market area of the people in the Khumbu region. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 04Rest Day at Namche Bazaar .4-5hrs walkWe will spend today Namche Bazaar in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning air. A short walk to the museum celebrating the traditional customs of the Sherpa people, as well as about flora & Fauna & its land, more importantly, from here you will get the proper glimpse of Everest and the surrounding mountains. after we hike up the Everest view hotel which is the best viewpoint of Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world, Kongde, Thmserku and Khumbila Peak. After spending some times on taking photographs, we back to Namche Bazaar O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 05Trek to Dole (4040m) 5-6hrs walkThis trek to Dhole begins from Namche as we follow the trails via Khyangjuma with few short up and downs. A little ahead and left from Khyangjuma, where shines of beautiful giant peak Mount Everest. It is quite hard as we need to cross Mong La, a wonderful land residing on the lap of Mt. Khumbila. We continue down to Phortse Thanga, and little further from here appears the Dhole National Park Check Post. We pass by some waterfalls and enter Dhole. It is a small settlement with limit tea houses. We walk counting to reach at Dhole. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 06Trek to Machhermo (4470m) 4-5hrs walkAfter breakfast, we climb gradually up through a picturesque edge above Dole. The beautiful Himalayan views like Cho Oyu, Thamserku and other surrounding peaks are dazzling from the trail. We see many Himalayan summer settlements including the Luza village. Then we walk along the trail over the Dudhkoshi stream, cross a tiny village, which continually leads to the Machhermo. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 07Trek to Gokyo (4800m) 5-6hrs walkOur dream place is coming soon. After breakfast, we start our trek to the Gokyo valley through several Chhortens and Mani walls and reach Pangka. After descending to the river bank, we start to climb up the moraine of Ngozamba Glacier. We pass by the first Lake- Longpongo, then the second Lake Taboche Tso, continually we cross the third Lake-Dudhpokhari and reach the Gokyo village located by its side. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 08Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5483m) and back to Gokyo and rest. 6-7hrs walkIt is our important point of trekking day for acclimatization,early morning we get set for a hiking trip to explore the higher Himalayas of the Everest range, stunning views of the six Lakes. It offers the breathtaking sunrise view over the snow peaked mountains. The outstanding views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu become really closer and crystal clear. The trip is very much fruitful for the acclimatization at this high altitude. The biggest glacier of Nepal- the Ngazumpa glacier lies on its northern part. Then we back to the Gokyo village.   • Day 09Trek to Thaknak (4750 m): 5 - 6 hrsAfter breakfast, we climb up to the Thaknak through the ridge of Gokyo. We continue to climb through the Ngozumpa Glacier, cross the edge of the Peak and trek down to the Thaknak. It offers the beautiful views of Cho Oyu and Gokyo RI. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 10Cross the Cho-La Pass and down to Dzongla (4830m): 7 - 8 hrsToday's trek we need walk start early morning, we have a tough climb of the whole trip. It may need climbing equipments. The steep climb includes the route of Glacier on the eastern side. We head continue on the rocky trail from Phedi. It is the most challenging climb of the trip. The views from the top of Cho-La are Mt. Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Lobuche peak and others. They are breathtaking and wonderful taking in good precaution, by the use of crampons. We move down towards and arrive at Dzongla .From Dzongla, the view of the north face of Cholatse is awesome again O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 11Trek to Lobuche (4940m): 4 - 5 hrsToday, we trek to the Lobuche from Dzongla. After breakfast, we descend to the River and cross the bridge over it. Then we head on the grassy trail, enjoying the snow capped Himalayan views. Gradually, the trip leads us to the Lobuche Village. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 12Trek to Gorak Shep (5170m) - Everest Base Camp (5364m) and Back Gorak Shep. 7 - 8 hrs walk.Today is an easy walk on the level trail for first hour. Then we climb up so followed by next of easy hike to catch the glacial moraines of Mt. Pumori all the way to Gorakshep. After a lunch at Gorakshep, we walk to the Everest Base Camp. The Everest expedition groups prevail there waiting for the good day for a successful summit. The views of Mt. Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori are really wonderful from the base camp. Then we gradually descend back at Gorakshep. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A).
  • Day 13Morning KalaPatthar sunrise and trek down to Pheriche (4280m). 7 - 8 hrs walkToday morning, we climb gradually uphill for two hours. It is walk through the black rocks to the top of Kalapattar. Kalapattar Means to black rock in Nepali. it is a vantage point for the bordering view of Everest. We get to see the whole of Everest from Kalapattar, which is a sight valuable durable an early morning hike. We will enjoy 360 degree panorama of Everest and its siblings from Kalapattar. Spending some times at Kalapatthar, we climb down to Gorakshep After breakfast, we again continue our descend all the way to Pheriche. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 14Trek down to Pangboche-Tengboche-Namche Bazzar (3440m). 5 - 6 hrs walk.After breakfast, we start our trek down to the Namche Bazaar through the trail surrounded by rhododendron and Juniper forest. It blooms fully red in the spring season. Then we reach to Pangboche and continue to Phunki Thenga after crossing the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. Heading through the Pine forest, we descend to Kyanjuma. After a lunch break, we gradually walk to Namche Bazaar following the same trail of our ascending.   • Day 15Trek down to Lukla (2800m). 6 - 8 hrs walkToday, we again have a long walk to Lukla. From Namche Bazaar, we trek down the rock and steep trail. Gradually, we cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. We are descended from the high altitude to the lower parts of the Khumbu region. It is the same trail through the rhododendron and pine forest along with open plain lands. Crossing the Sherpa settlements, we continually trek to Lukla. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 16Fly Back to Kathmandu.In the early morning, we catch a flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. Then transfer to the hotel from airport. We have a whole day for rest and shopping at the local market. There are several restaurants around the Kathmandu for our sweet dinner. O/N at the Hotel. (B, D A)
  • Day 17Departure to International Airport.Today, it’s your final day of the trip in Nepal. On your airport time, our company representative bid farewell and wish for safe journey. (B)


How much should I tip my guide and porter?

Tips are appreciated by your support team after the trip. The amount depends on your budget and appreciation of their work. Some trekkers give 10% of the total tour cost as tips. This is absolutely your choice, make the best of it. Only you can decide this.
