Trekking Langtang valley, also called ‘the valley of glaciers’, is an ideal trip to do with family. The fine eco balances of the stunning valley make this journey ever so romantic and joyous which is perfect to do with your loved ones than anyone else, even great memories can be made with your best friend on this wonderful trek. Hereabouts, the majestic mountains stand up tall into the sky, rising up from the earth. The Langtang valley includes verdant pine forest, rippling mountain streams, rugged rock formations and silvery grey snowcapped peaks that shimmer in the sunlight. Also harmonizing with this we can see lush grassy downs and meadows scattered with daisies and wild primal that set the heart fluttering and satisfied by the views. The gentle ecosystems amidst tranquil monasteries and a visit to a cheese factory to sample fresh cheese makes this trek ever so nostalgic and a journey of a lifetime; in addition to this, the sublime sights of massive gleaming glaciers and flowing sparkling clean water streams give this trek all the purposes for a romantic getaway in the gentle wild. This trek also leads us into typical Sherpa villages and enables us to interact with the warm friendly locals who let us experience their culture and lifestyles with pure friendship. This is a great opportunity for trekkers to get deep insights into the life of Nepal’s mountain villages and understand the tough situations and the day to day struggles of the people living here.

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1350m).
  • Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi (1467m) – 7-8 Hours.
  • Day 03: Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel (2470m) - 5 Hours.
  • Day 04: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m) - 6 Hours.
  • Day 05: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3870m) - 3 Hours.
  • Day 06: Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel - 2490m - 6 Hours.
  • Day 07: Trek down to Syabru Besi [2000m] .
  • Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu by Jeep/Local Bus.
  • Day 09: Departure to International Airport

Cost Includes:

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu (1350m).Get refreshed and familiar with your surroundings. Your senior trek leader will meet you at eventide & brief you on the pros & cons of your whole trip. Have supper & if you feel like it you can go for a stroll down the streets of Thamel, a well known hub for tourists throughout the world. If you reckon you are tired with the jetlag, then you can go to bed & get up fresh for a new day in the land of the Himalayas. It’s your first overnight in the valley of temples and cows. O/N at Hotel. (A)
  • Day 02Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi (1467m) – 7-8 Hours. We start our journey about 7 AM in the morning and head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubensi. We also get to view the enthralling panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region. The first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is pretty smooth. The path now moves along a gravel road. During the rainy season, the route is sometimes blocked due to landslides.   • Day 03Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel (2470m) - 5 Hours. Today is the first walking day of our trek and it’s a cool hike, first, the trail gradually ascends to Landslide (1810m.). Afterwards, our trail ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) and at the end, our trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route we could see red pandas and bear (if we are lucky), and monkeys. We pass by several small bhattis (tea shops). As we continue ascending steeply along the trail, we come across a steel suspension bridge at 2000 meters. The route further crosses to the north bank of the Langtang Khola amid the spectacular vistas of cascading waterfalls and opens into a scrub oak forest. At the end, our trail gets level till we reach Lama Hotel O/N at lodge (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 04Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m) - 6 Hours.As we continue climbing, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, we will catch a glimpse of white monkeys and local birds. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project hereabouts, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which we can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang. O/N at lodge (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 05Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3870m) - 3 Hours.The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. There are a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory at the end of the trail. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. O/N at lodge (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 06Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel - 2490m - 6 Hours. From Kyangjin, we retrace our trekking route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch, we continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. O/N at lodge (B, L, D, A)
  • Day 07Trek down to Syabru Besi [2000m] . From Lama Hotel, we head back to Syabru Besi. We can wander around the undulating path leading to the village. This gives us an opportunity to get an insight of the culture and custom of the Tamang community. We can also simply relax in the sun savoring the beauty of the majestic Himalayan Mountains.   • Day 08Drive back to Kathmandu by Jeep/Local Bus. Drive from Syabru Besi to Kathmandu by bus, which takes about nine hours. You drive through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Kathmandu. At eventide, we proceed to a well known Nepali kitchen for some tasty Nepalese cuisine; and as we enjoy our meals, we will be entertained by a thrilling cultural dance performed by the local belles in the area.   • Day 09Departure to International AirportTOur office representative from Index Adventure will personally take you to the airport for your flight home. (Or stay longer for short tours such as game drive at National parks, do some wild-water rafting, a Tibet tour or even mountain biking, etc - please don't hesitate to let us know). How much should I tip my guide and porter?

Tips are appreciated by your support team after the trip. The amount depends on your budget and appreciation of their work. Some trekkers give 10% of the total tour cost as tips. This is absolutely your choice, make the best of it. Only you can decide this.
