TSUM VALLEY TREKKING

Dwelling in the Manaslu region, trekking to Tsum Valley offers immense natural beauty and unparalleled cultural experiences. The 20 days long trek into the vicinity of Tsum valley initiates and end with the ride to/from Arughat bazaar from Kathmandu from where we will begin our trek to Machha Khola; lower Budhi Gandaki region crossing Soti Khola. We depart from Machha Khola and continue our trek Chisapani and then to Chumling via Jagat. While trekking, the trails are accompanied by absolute sceneries, majestic mountain peaks, and off-the-beaten-path trekking trails. From Chumling passing through the Nile (3,361m), we head to the Mu Gompa (3,700m); medieval monastery. Later, we will reach out to Philim via Chumling again and then pave our path towards Khorlabeshi and then back to Arughat from where we will drive back to Kathmandu. The major highlights of the trek are amazing sceneries, views of majestic mountain peaks, off-the-beaten-path trekking trails, and visit Mu Gompa. Spring and autumn are considered to be the best season to explore the Tsum valley.

  • Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu Airport and Transfer to hotel.

    Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be escorted to your hotel by one of our representatives. Rest and dinner at the hotel.

    • Day 2: Sightseeing of Kathmandu valley and Trip meeting.

      After an early morning breakfast, you will head out to start your day and explore the historical city, Kathmandu. Our guide will accompany you throughout the day. A well-guided tour to the UNESCO world heritage sites including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath will give you an insight into the history and culture of the Nepalese people. After an exciting day, you will head back to your hotel and our representative will brief you about your trip to Tsum Valley. 

      • Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar (550 m), Driving duration: 8-9 hours.

        We will leave the hotel early morning and take an 8-9 hours’ drive to Arughat Bazaar. The area is clean and contains every possible necessary elements such as hotels, lodges, and shops for the tourists. Overnight at a hotel. 

        • Day 4: Trek from Arughat Bazaar to Soti Khola (710 m), Trek Duration: 6-7 hours.

          From the western part of Arughat, we begin our trek to Soti Khola. We cross the Budhi Gandaki Valley and as we walk further, we come across steeper routes. However, the cascading waterfalls make the trek serene and the scattered Magar and Gurung villages add additional beauty to the place. Overnight stay at Soti Khola.

          • Day 5: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (887 m), Trek Duration: 4 hours.

            The trails today weaves its way through a rocky patch and requires strength in order to reach our destination. We will come across dense Sal forests, rocky trails that cling to the side of a cliff, a few Gurung settlements, and rice terraces before reaching the Machha Khola. Overnight stay at Machha Khola.

            • Day 6: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (1,350m), Trek Duration: 7 hours.

              After an early morning breakfast, we gather our strength to successfully accomplish the next destination of our journey, Jagat. The narrow trails take us to Tharo Khola and eventually Khorlabesi. Making our way through a few more ups and downs, we reach Tatopani, a natural hot spring. As we pass the hot spring, a thrilling suspension over the Dobhan Khola takes us to Duman. From here, walking across few stone stairs and ascending trails passing through Thorang Bharyang, we climb the village of Jagat. Overnight stay at Jagat.

              • Day 7: Jagat to Chisopani (1,660 m), Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours.

                We enjoy the morning breeze and head towards Sridibas alongside beautiful rocky landscapes. As we walk little further up a widened trail, we cross the Ghatta Khola and eventually make our way up to the Gurung and Magar settlements in Philim and finally to Chisopani. Overnight stay at Chisopani.

                • Day 8: Chisopani to Chumling (2,386 m), Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours.

                  We begin our trek alongside the Budhi Gandaki Valley towards Eklai Bhatti passing through a few tea houses. En route we come across colorful rhododendron and pine forests. We cross a stream through the swinging bridge and finally reach our destination, Chumling. Overnight at a lodge. 

                  • Day 9: Chumling to Chokhangparo (3,010 m), Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours.

                    Today’s trek contains hike on tougher steep trails but the views are worth every drop of sweat. As we make our way to Chokhangparo, an astounding view of Ganesh Himal, Boudhha Himal, and many other mountain peaks surrounds us. While walking through a few cliffs you can feel an adrenaline rush taking over your whole body. Eventually, we reach Dumje where Tibetan people reside. The culture, custom, and language are quite fascinating. After few more hours of walk, we reach Chokhangparo. Overnight stay at a lodge.

                    • Day 10: Chokhangparo to the Nile (3,361 m), Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours.

                      The beautiful landscape as we walk our way up through a relatively easier flat trail is dotted by the Himalayas and fluffy. We come across a historical 2500 years old Milarepa cave where Buddhist Guru Milarepa meditated. We can find a footprint of Milarepa carved inside the cave along with an Elephant trunk. We walk up alongside a stream and reach our destination for the day, Nile. Stay at the lodge.

                      • Day 11: The Nile to Mu Gompa (3,700 m), Trek Duration: 3 hours.

                        Almost 3 hours trek to Mu Gompa consists of a mesmerizing sight from the snowcapped Himalayas in the background. As we trek uphill, we come across cultivated lands that include barley crops, buckwheat, and potatoes. Reaching our destination at Mu Gompa, which is an ancient monastery, we will be offered a good variety of food and a place to accommodate. 

                        • Day 12: Sightseeing and acclimatization at Mu Gompa (3,700 m).

                          After an early morning breakfast, we relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery for a while. We take a gradual hike towards the Tibetan border and walk a little further up to take photographs of the outstanding landscapes. 

                          • Day 13: Mu Gompa to Burgi Village (2,386 m), Trek Duration: 5 hours.

                            We get ourselves ready to walk back down after a relaxing day at Mu Gompa. We descend through rocky trails to the Burgi Village and spend the night at a lodge.

                            • Day 14: Burgi village to Chumling (2,386 m), Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours.

                              After breakfast, we again make our way downhill passing through a few monasteries and bridges alongside splashing streams. We take steep steps through the same route from where we climbed up and reach Chumling. Overnight at a lodge.

                              • Day 15: Chumling to Philim (1,570 m), Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours.

                                The trail now is mostly downhill. We pass through a few dense rhododendron forests and local settlements of Gurung and Magar people as we reach our destination in Philim. 

                                • Day 16: Trek from Philim to Khorlabeshi (970 m), Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours.

                                  After an early morning breakfast, we make our way back to Khorlabeshi and enjoy the hot spring en route. We continue our way back to Khorlabeshi and spend the night at a lodge. 

                                  • Day 17: Trek from Khorlabesi to Soti Khola (700 m), Trek Duration: 6 to 7hours.

                                    After an early morning breakfast, we descend downhill. We make our way through a few suspension bridges and reach Soti Khola, where we spend our night at a lodge and relax. 

                                    • Day 18: Trek from Soti Khola to Arughat (550 m), Trek Duration: 3 to 4 hours.

                                      As we nearly come to an end of our wonderful trip to Tsum Valley, we enjoy our very last trekking day to Arughat. We walk towards Arughat from Lapu Besi and stay overnight at a lodge. 

                                      • Day 19: Drive from Arughat Bazaar to Kathmandu, Drive Duration: 7 to 8 hours.

                                        We take a 6-7 hours’ drive back to Kathmandu. You can enjoy the greenery en route to alongside flowing rivers. A farewell dinner will be organized by the company where you will be celebrating your accomplishment with the team.

                                        • Day 20: Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure.

                                          Our representative will escort you to the Tribhuvan International Airport. We wish you a safe flight and hope to see you soon.
