Winter (December, January, February) Weather at Everest Base Camp

What to Wear in Different Weather in Everest Base Camp?

Summer/ Monsoon

Summer is the hottest season at Everest Base Camp. You must bring light cotton or light fabric clothes for daytime hikes. You might need windproof jackets for winds, in case. Sunscreen lotions and sunglasses are important.

Packing only light clothes won’t do! Carry a few clothes to keep you warm during the night. Bring a down jacket and a warm sleeping bag.

Trekking during heavy monsoon downpours without a waterproof gear is almost impossible. A set of waterproof jacket and trouser is a must.

Remember! Your trekking shoes must have gripped soles. Wet and slippery trails are hard and tricky! Also, get a rain cover for your backpack.

Autumn

Winter

Winter is the coldest time in Everest! Proper clothing is a key to a successful trek in winter. Without proper clothing and gear, your trek will not be possible.

Clothes are important. Pack warm clothes to keep your body warm and insulated. Besides, you must pack proper hand wears, footwear, caps, and mufflers. Clothes make most of your gears in winter.

The night is cold and hard to bear. You will need the best quality sleeping bags. Also, get clothes that are air and water resistant for your whole body.

Sunscreens, moisturizers, and lip balms are mandatory. Don’t forget to include them in your trekking gear.

Spring
EBC weather in Spring is almost like that of the autumn time. What you need for Autumn is what you need for spring. Pack light! You won't need heavyweight warm clothes as in winter.

Windproof jackets and trousers, warm t-shirts and pants will do for day hikes. Down jackets, winter gloves are good for evenings and nights. Pick up a pair of water-resistant trekking shoes and a warm sleeping bag.
